Oil Bird
A common guillemot, zeekoet, is washed at the De Mikke bird refuge center after it was stuck in oil that washed ashore in the Netherlands and Belgium from leaking tanker Tricolor January 29, 2003 in Middelburg, Netherlands. Hundreds of birds were injured and many died from the oil spill. The car carrier Tricolor sank in the English Channel in December and was hit in its oil hull, holding 170 tons of ship fuel, by a salvage ship January 29, 2003 releasing an unknown amount of the fuel.
